Food Service
Texas Hillel is pleased to announce a new partnership with Simcha Kosher Catering, Dallas’ premier kosher food service provider and a welcome addition to the Austin community. Simcha will operate Texas Hillel’s state-of-the-art kitchens and provide Shabbat, holiday and program meals. Additionally, Simcha will be able to offer the entire community high-quality kosher food for meetings, events, life-cycles and much more. Texas Hillel has been offering kosher food service since the new building opened, and is proud to now contract for those services with Simcha, while at the same time making this resource available for everyone!
Texas Hillel Food Service FAQ
Are the Texas Hillel kitchens still kosher?
YES! The meat and dairy kitchens are under the supervision of Dallas Kosher. The cafe area is no longer supervised.
Is the San Antonio Street Cafe still operating?
No. The San Antonio Street Cafe opened in January 2006 and, while the food was delicious, the costs of running a public restaurant within the modest budget of a non-profit organization proved to be prohibitive. In order best to fulfill our mission to serve college students, we will operate the cafe space on a semi-regular basis as a means to engage our core constituents. We’ll have special events at the cafe that will be announced on our website. Students… be sure to come by and see what’s cooking in the lobby!
Will students still be able to get kosher food at Texas Hillel?
Yes. In addition to our Shabbat and holiday meals, we’ll also be offering regular lunch and dinner groups with our contract caterer, Simcha Catering . Watch the website and e-newsletter for dates and details.
Does Texas Hillel still offer catering?
No. All catering through our kitchens will be handled by Simcha Catering. Room rental is of course still available (with or without food), and any kosher food requests will be handled by Simcha Catering.
Who should I call to arrange an event?
For room rentals, contact Monica Capozziello at Texas Hillel. For catering information (either at Texas Hillel or off-site), contact David Kogan with Simcha Catering.
